What would they say?

What would they say?
A question that many like to ignore as
it gives the power of defining self-worth to another.
It takes away from the fact that only my Creator
will define the worth of us all.
Although, we consistently wonder what they think.
We mimic our actions and beliefs based on what is “popular.”
We wonder how what we did or said will resonate with
the person who is just the same as us: a person.
What would they say about me to others?
What characteristics of me would they clutch onto?
What attributes of my being would they manipulate based
on their understanding of who I am?
These questions matter due to the web that
entraps us all.
they may know me like that, and now she knows me the same.
But does she actually know me?
It is not absurd to question the portrayal you may have
within the minds of those secular souls.
Although it may be absurd to think the impression you leave
may be impressed on the world’s surface forever.
For we all hope to make a good impression,
but we certainly cannot control if the person next to us
will process our intended kindness as just that,
or project their insecurities onto our name.
It is human nature to wonder how our humane counterparts may
perceive us in secular terms.
It is human to want others to see you as good, well-intended, positive.
Although, it is the devil’s nature to twist the mindset of others.
It is the nature of the ugly to see you as what you aren’t: ugly.
What would they say about me?
That’s not a terrible question to ponder,
as we hope to be Christ-like in nature.
But, “how does the Lord define me based upon His Word?”
may be a more appropriate question when defining your worth.
